PURPOSE:
The Parks and Recreation Department and City Engineering & Inspections Department are requesting a change order to contract 2010-015 related to the Latham Park Skate Park project. The changes involve removal of rock from the construction site during the grading and excavation work for the skate park. The presence of the rock was unknown to the project estimator until grading and excavation began. The change order is for $30,187 for rock removal. Due to budget constraints from the bids received during the bidding process, the project was contracted without a contingency allowance. In order to compensate Adira Construction, Inc. approval of a contract change order is requested.
BACKGROUND:
The City authorized contract 2010-015 on March 14, 2016 with Adira Construction, Inc. in the amount of $575,000 to build and construct the Glenwood Skate Spot and Latham Park Skate Park. The construction of the Glenwood Skate Spot was completed in November 2016 and Latham Park Skate Park grand opening was on May 20, 2017. These two projects completed the 2006 Skate Park Bond fund projects.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Parks and Recreation Department requests City Council approve a change order in the amount of $30,187 to contract 2010-015 with Adira Construction, Inc. for the Latham Park Skate Park project.
