PURPOSE:

This amendment is necessary for Guilford Metro Communications Fund (687) to reimburse the Emergency Telephone Systems Fund (281) for expenses that were ineligible in FY2016.  The adjustment is necessary to get the fund balance correct in Emergency Telephone Systems Fund (281) for FY2016.

BACKGROUND:

Guilford Metro 911 receives funding to cover 911 eligible expenses as certified by the North Carolina 911 Board.  The North Carolina 911 Board has an established approved 911 Expenditure List for this funding.  Upon review of the FY2016 audit report by the NC 911 Board, it was determined that the Emergency Telephone Systems Fund (281) had $6,640 of ineligible expenses.

BUDGET IMPACT:

The ordinance reimburses the Emergency Telephone Systems Fund (281) for expenses from FY2016 that were deemed ineligible by the NC State 911 Board. The reimbursement will be made by the Guilford Metro Communications Fund (687) and a budget adjustment will be required in order for that fund to initiate the transfer. Guilford Metro submitted the FY2016 Emergency Telephone Systems Fund audit to the NC State 911 Board on September 1, 2016. The NC State 911 Board notified Guilford Metro of the ineligible expenses on June 5, 2017.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

It is requested and recommended that the City Council adopt the attached budget ordinance amending the Emergency Telephone Systems Fund (281) in the amount of $6,640
