BACKGROUND:

From approximately May 2016 through May of 2017, the City and County have been reviewing several contracts for service between the City and County, including the Interlocal agreement for animal control services. The Interlocal Agreement for Animal Control services is a result of direct negotiations that detail a funding plan over the next five years. The funding is detailed in the Budget Impact section below.

BUDGET IMPACT:

The County will pay the City the following: for FY 17-18, $581,077, for FY 18-19, $635,117, for FY 19-20, $694,183, and for FY 20-21, $758,520. For the FY 21-22 the County’s payment shall be the percentage of the net animal control services annual budget equal to the proportion of calls for service within the City limits.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

It is requested and recommended that the City Council approve the attached Interlocal Agreement between the City of Greensboro and Guilford County for the funding of animal control services.
