PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2009-004 (U-5326) - West Market Street at Guilford College Road Intersection Improvements have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to Triangle Grading & Paving, Inc. in the amount of $4,736,587.30.
BACKGROUND:
This work consists of all labor, equipment, and materials required for installation of roadway improvements: unclassified excavation, storm drainage, asphalt paving, pavement markings, railroad crossing, retaining wall installation, and erosion control; along with ADA compliant concrete curb cuts and driveways.
The bids were opened on March 23, 2017 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is Triangle Grading & Paving, Inc. (Burlington, NC) with a bid of $4,736,587.30. This project is funded by 80% Federal and 20% State reimbursable funds and is subject to DBE requirements due to Federal guidelines.
The DBE utilization goal was 12.0%.
The contractor's commitment is DBE = 12.4%.
