PURPOSE:

City Council approval is requested for Utility Reimbursement Agreement B-5345 with North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to support construction of a 12-inch water line betterment to be installed with NCDOT Project B-5345 Bridge No. 456 over Brush Creek on SR 2136 (Fleming Road).

 

BACKGROUND:

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is prepared and adopted plans to make street and highway improvements under Project B-5345 in Guilford County. The project will include the replacement of Bridge No. 456 over Brush Creek on SR 2136 (Fleming Road). City Council approval of a Utility Agreement is requested to support construction activities related to water quality assurance and provide reliable and consistent service to our customers.  NCDOT is responsible for the bridge work while the City is responsible for the relocation and construction of the water line infrastructure required to maintain utility standards. 

 

BUDGET IMPACT:

Funds are budgeted in Water Resources Capital Improvements Fund account 503-7026-01.5615 in the amount of $176,860.  A budget adjustment is needed to use this account.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

The Water Resources Department recommends that City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the execution of the Utility Agreement between the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the City of Greensboro for the estimated cost of $176,860, and the associated budget adjustment.
