PURPOSE:
The Greensboro Police Department received an additional funding from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives of $645 for overtime worked in support of the 2014-15 Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF). To accept the additional funds for this reimbursement grant, a budget amendment is requested from Greensboro City Council in accordance with current city fiscal procedures.
BACKGROUND:
The Greensboro Police Department entered into an agreement with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to identify and target for prosecution violent individuals or organizations planning or carrying out violent acts. The ATF agreed to reimburse the Greensboro Police Department for overtime costs associated with this service up to a maximum of $25,000 for fiscal year 2014-15. The officers’ caseload led to the incurrence of additional overtime of $645 beyond the original budget and those additional costs have been reimbursed. City Finance requests a budget ordinance amendment to account for the grant overage.
BUDGET IMPACT:
This requested action will have no adverse impact on the City of Greensboro budget.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is requested that the City Council adopt the attached budget ordinance amending the funding in the amount of $645 for the 2014-15 VCTF reimbursement grant from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
