PURPOSE:
HDR Engineering, Inc. of the Carolinas was selected to provide design services for the Summit Avenue Streetscape Improvements Phase 2 in the amount of $711,250.00.

BACKGROUND:
The project entails providing streetscape enhancements and improvements: including storm drainage, landscaped median, possible bicycle lanes, and decorative street lighting. Gateway features are to be implemented along Summit Avenue, from the railroad crossing south of SECU Blvd. to the intersection of Abe Brenner Place and N. Davie Street.

Our twelve on-call professional services firms were considered for this project. Prime consideration was given to their past experience and performance with projects involving streetscape work, sidewalks, roadway configuration, traffic analysis, landscaping, utility design, and public participation. Also, they are already being tasked to provide the design for the Summit Avenue and Yanceyville Street Streetscape Improvements. As a result of the analysis by the Transportation and Engineering & Inspections Departments, HDR Engineering, Inc. of the Carolinas was selected for the project.

HDR's team includes anticipated participation of 15.95% MBE. MBE firms included are JC Waller & Associates - Greensboro, NC, Davenport Transportation Consulting - Winston-Salem, NC, Revington Reaves - Greensboro, NC, and CriTek Engineering Group, PC - Greensboro, NC.

BUDGET IMPACT:
