PURPOSE:
City Council is being requested to approve the award of the contract to Recreational Ventures, Inc. (dba Court One) for the renovation of the tennis courts at the Spencer Love Tennis Courts for the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Greensboro.
BACKGROUND:
Execution of this contract allows for Phase 1 of the improvement project at Spencer Love Tennis Center to begin. Phase 1 consists of the upgrade and conversion of thirteen (13) existing clay tennis courts to HydroCourts. The HydroCourt system maintains optimal moisture of clay court surfaces at all times by way of an underground watering system that provides uniform and even coverage, keeping traction safe and consistent. This system provides only the amount of water needed to keep the courts moist, and substantially reduces the amount of water, brushing and rolling needed to properly maintain clay tennis courts.
These improvements will allow for increased local play and opportunities to draw in regional tournaments increasing overall economic impact for the City. Approval of this contract allows work to begin in January 2017 with completion in Spring/Summer 2017.
The M/WBE Office reviewed the documentation submitted by Recreational Ventures, Inc. (dba Court One) to determine compliance with the City of Greensboro M/WBE Program Plan. The M/WBE Goal Setting Committee established contract specific goals of MBE 4% and WBE 4%. Recreational Ventures, Inc. (dba Court One) has exceeded both goals by proposing to commit to MBE (5.3%) and WBE (12.4%) goals with certified firms. (See attached).
BUDGET IMPACT:
The total project cost is $499,797. Funding for this contract will be budgeted in account 453-5010-...
