PURPOSE:
Calyx Engineers & Consultants, Inc. is needed to provide additional construction inspections for the federally funded General Sidewalk Improvements along Florida Street and Randleman Road project, EL5101DG. City Council approval of a contract extension to the professional services contract in the amount of $40,103.54 is requested.
BACKGROUND:
The general sidewalk improvements will enhance pedestrian circulation and improve transportation safety and mobility choices.
Calyx Engineers & Consultants, Inc. was awarded the construction inspections contract for the General Sidewalk Improvements by the City Council on February 3, 2015, in the amount of $203,341.05.
Extension of the construction inspections is due to weather related issues causing the construction timeframe to be extended for completing the work. The cost to incorporate the additional inspections is $40,103.54. With this contract extension, the new total amount of the contract will be $243,444.59.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The design contract extension in the amount of $40,103.54 is budgeted the following Street and Sidewalk Capital Project Fund account: 401-4545-01.6015 A11089.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Transportation and Engineering & Inspections Departments recommend approval of the contract extension with Calyx Engineers & Consultants, Inc.
