PURPOSE:

City Council approval is requested to convey a utility easement to Duke Energy in order for them to install approximately 88 feet of underground primary cable to supply power to a new site sign owned by SHVF Renaissance, LLC.

BACKGROUND:

SHVF Renaissance, LLC is installing electrical service for a new site sign on property owned by the City. The site sign identifies the McGirt-Horton Library, along with other businesses in the mall located at 2501 Phillips Avenue, Parcel #0222466. Duke Energy requires an easement to install new electrical service to the sign.

Since the easement is an encumbrance on City property, City Council approval is required for the transaction.

BUDGET IMPACT:

No funds are required, and there is no budget impact.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

The Property Management Section of the Engineering & Inspections Department recommends approval of this acquisition.
