PURPOSE:
Volkert, Inc. was selected to provide inspection services for the 2017 Resurfacing of Streets Project. City Council approval of the professional services contract with Volkert, Inc., in the amount of $170,000.00 is requested.
BACKGROUND:
This project includes asphalt inspection for approximately 45 street segments; inclusive of inspecting asphalt, concrete curb ramps, sidewalks, driveways, and utility adjustments. Due to increased volume of asphalt quantities beyond a usual resurfacing, Volkert, Inc. is to provide two inspectors to help facilitate the City’s Inspections staff which should keep the work progressing appropriately to meet the target completion date.
Resurfacing work is to begin by April 3, 2017 and is to be completed by December 15, 2017.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds for the professional services contract are available in the Street Improvements Bond fund in account number 471-4502-09.5429. A budget adjustment will be required to move funds into the appropriate account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Engineering & Inspections and Field Operations Departments recommend authorizing the award and approval of the associated budget adjustment in the amount of $170,000.00, for the 2017 Resurfacing of Streets Project to Volkert, Inc.
