PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2016-012 (Downtown Greenway Phases 1b1 and 1b2) have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to Yates Construction Company in the amount of $1,710,594.00.
BACKGROUND:
This work consists of all labor, equipment, and materials required for installation of 1675 SY of concrete greenway trail, tree wells, landscaping, pavement removal, and pavement markings; along with ADA compliant concrete curb cuts and driveways.
The bids were opened on June 8, 2016 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is Yates Construction Company (Stokesdale, NC) with a bid of $1,710,594.00.
The MWBE goals were MBE 8% and WBE 8%.
The contractor’s commitment is MBE 9.0% and WBE 8.9%.
No additional bids were received.
The proposed date for start of construction is September 26, 2016. The proposed date of completion is March 25, 2017.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds for this construction contract will be budgeted in the 2008 Bond Downtown Greenway Project account: 471-4502-18.6015. A budget adjustment is required to move funds from the bond fund holding account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is recommended by the Departments of Engineering & Inspections and GDOT that City Council approve the bid and award Contract 2016-021 (Downtown Greenway Phases 1b1 and 1b2) to Yates Construction Company for the bid amount of $1,710,594.00 and approve the associated budget adjustment.
