PURPOSE:

The bids for Contract 2015-045 (Bryan Park Road Culvert Replacement) have been received.  In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to Yates Construction Co. Inc., for $1,357,902.00.

 

BACKGROUND:

This work consists of culvert replacement due to failing conditions of the existing culvert.  The bids were opened on June 9, 2016 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is Yates Construction Co. Inc. (Stokesdale, NC) with a bid of $1,357,902.00. 

 

The M/WBE utilization goal was MBE 5% and WBE 7%.

The contractor’s commitment is MBE 5% and WBE 7%.

 

Additional bids received were:

The proposed date for start of construction is August 1, 2016.  The proposed date of completion is January 28, 2017.

 

BUDGET IMPACT:

Funds for this construction contract are budgeted in the following Stormwater Capital Improvements Fund account: 506-7015-03.6018 Activity A16030.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

 

It is recommended by the Departments of Engineering & Inspections and Water Resources that City Council approve the bid and award Contract 2015-045 (Bryan Park Road Culvert Replacement) to Yates Construction Co., Inc. for the bid amount of $1,357,902.00.
