PURPOSE:
North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will reimburse the City for the installation of new traffic signals and crosswalks associated with the development of the Union Square Campus. A budget ordinance needs to be approved to allow the expenditure of funds.
BACKGROUND:
NCDOT will reimburse the City for improvements along Gate City Boulevard associated with the Union Square Campus. The project consists of installation of mast arm signal poles, pedestrian signals, and stamped crosswalks at the intersection of Gate City Boulevard and South Elm Street and the intersection of Gate City Boulevard and Arlington Street.
BUDGET IMPACT:
NCDOT will reimburse 100% of expenses for project costs not to exceed $250,000. No additional City funds are required for this project. Funding will be budgeted in the following Street Sidewalk Capital Projects Fund account: 401-4531-05.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Transportation Department recommends and requests Council approve the attached ordinance establishing the budget for signal installation and crosswalks at Union Square Campus.
