PURPOSE:
There is a need for an Interlocal Agreement which will set forth the Guidelines and Protocols in the event of 911 Network Failures for Rockingham County Central Communications. In accordance with North Carolina State Statutes, City Council authorization is required for interlocal agreements.
BACKGROUND:
Rockingham County and the City of Greensboro plan to enter into a memorandum of understanding agreement in which Guilford Metro 911 will provide Rockingham County Central Communications usage of the Guilford Metro back-up facility in the event of complete network failure in Rockingham County. The agreement outlines the responsibilities and protocols of Guilford Metro 911 and Rockingham County in case assistance is needed from Guilford Metro 911 in the event of such network failures. Should there be a need for Rockingham County Central Communications to utilize the Guilford Metro back-up facility for an extended period of time, State surcharge funds or Rockingham County Central Communications will cover the costs of any needed equipment or connections.
