PURPOSE:

To grant an encroachment agreement in City right-of-way for the electrical wiring and Simply Grid electric meters for the needs of Greensboro Downtown Parks, Inc. When public or private entities request to use City right-of-way, it is required that they secure approval by City Council.

BACKGROUND:

Greensboro Downtown Parks, Inc officials approached the City in order to request use of City right of way for electrical service for LeBauer Park. This installation of electrical lines and four Simply Grid meters are needed for food trucks that park along the east side of Davie Street. These power sources will provide direct energy for food trucks. This serves as a solution to avoid noise disturbing generators.

This encroachment is indentified in City right-of-way as seen on the site map Exhibit A. Exhibit B shows an example of the Simply Grid meter. Greensboro Downtown Parks, Inc is required to become compliant with regulations regarding occupation of City right-of-way.

This encroachment has been reviewed and approved by the City Manager’s Office, Transportation, Water Resources, and Legal.

BUDGET IMPACT:

There is no budget impact. All associated costs will be incurred by Greensboro Downtown Parks, Inc.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

Information Technology recommends that City Council grant an encroachment for the use of electrical lines and Simply Grid meter boxes in City right-of-way for Greensboro Downtown Parks, Inc.
