PURPOSE:

The purpose of the amendment is to revise Chapter 6 (Buildings and Building Regulations) of the Code of Ordinance to incorporate State regulation changes, and revise various sections of the code for consistent language.  This amendment also streamlines the code by removing certain components that are covered by other regulations.

BACKGROUND:

Chapter 6 covers the regulation of building codes within the City’s jurisdiction as required by State Law.  Over time, these regulations change at the State level and this revision is necessary to bring the ordinance into alignment with current requirements.  In addition to the necessary revisions, the code is also being revised to address other miscellaneous discrepancies in language and structure. This proposal was made available on the City’s website for comment as well as being directly provided to stakeholders.

In essence, this amendment will align current operation practice with the code governing said practices.  No fee increase is associated with these changes and no new minimum standards are implemented.

BUDGET IMPACT:

None
