PURPOSE:

The purpose of this ordinance is to move funding associated with a reorganization of personnel from the Information Technology Department to the Guilford Metro 911 Department.

 

BACKGROUND:

In the late spring of 2016, a department reorganization request was filed at the request of Police, Fire, and Guilford Metro 911 to relocate Public Safety IT (PSIT) personnel currently in the Information Technology Department to Guilford Metro 911. The purpose of the reorganization request was to improve efficiency of service by having Public Safety IT functions located within the Public Safety Result Area. The reorganization request has been formally reviewed and approved. An ordinance is necessary to move the funding from the General Fund to the Guilford Metro Communications Fund.

 

BUDGET IMPACT:

The Guilford Metro Communications Fund Budget will be increased by $2,960,013.
