PURPOSE:

To grant an Encroachment Agreement in City right-of-way for the installation of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce’s clock. When public or private entities request to use City right-of-way, it is required that they secure approval by City Council.

 

BACKGROUND:

The Greensboro Area Chamber of Commerce, Incorporated approached the City in order to request placement of their clock in front of their new office. This clock is currently located at 342 N Elm Street and this building will be demolished due to the construction of the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts. The building which they will be using is located at 200 S. Elm Street and 111 W. February One Place, and they have requested to be allowed to install this clock at this new location.

 

This encroachment along has been reviewed and approved by Information Technology, Engineering & Inspections, Transportation, Water Resources, and Legal.

 

BUDGET IMPACT:

There is no budget impact. All associated costs will be incurred by The Greensboro Area Chamber of Commerce, Incorporated.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED: The Information Technology Department recommends that City Council grant The Greensboro Area Chamber of Commerce, Incorporated an encroachment agreement for the use of locating their clock in City right of way.
