PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2015-092 (Market Street Mini Streetscape) have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to Yates Construction Co. Inc., for $583,853.00.
BACKGROUND:
This work consists of installing of sidewalk, landscaping, pavement repair, resurfacing, street furniture, and replacement of a 12" waterline. The bids were opened on June 9, 2016 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is Yates Construction Co. Inc. (Stokesdale, NC) with a bid of $583,853.00.
The M/WBE utilization goal was MBE 8% and WBE 8%.
The contractor's commitment is MBE 13% and WBE 9%.

The proposed date for start of construction is August 1, 2016. The proposed date of completion is October 30, 2016.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds for this construction contract are budgeted in the following:
$406,968.00 2008 Transportation Bond Fund Market Street Downtown Mini Streetscape Improvement Account: 471-4502-28.6014
$176,885.00 Water Resources Capital Improvement Fund Account: 503-7025-01.6016 A16034
A budget adjustment will be required to move funds into the appropriate account.
