PURPOSE:

The Greensboro Fire Department desires to reallocate $303,984 in revenue funds received from Guilford County into the appropriate account for future use.

BACKGROUND:

The City of Greensboro has previously entered into an Inter-Governmental Agreement with Guilford County, which provides for County Emergency Medical Responders to occupy a portion of the Reedy Fork Fire Station. Per terms of the agreement, the City received $353,984 from Guilford County. This amount was officially designated to be used by the City to purchase land and/or firefighting equipment for the Greensboro Fire Department, and is documented in a resolution adopted on June 16, 2015.

$50,000 of this amount was previously reallocated to supplement the purchase of a Firefighting Foam Storage Building, leaving $303,984 available for future use.

BUDGET IMPACT:

There is no negative impact on the Departmental Operating Budget. The adopted resolution provides for revenue funds to be utilized for firefighting equipment, resulting in a positive budget impact.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

It is requested that the City Council adopt the attached budget ordinance.
