PURPOSE: Moses Cone (Dr. Mary Ruth Hunt) will provide onsite and offsite physician services including but not limited to police, fire and general placement physicals, DOT drug screens, worker's comp injury management, return to work approvals and other occupational health surveillance. Moses Cone (Dr. Mary Ruth Hunt) will supervise the medical work of the City's Nurse Practitioner as required by law.
BACKGROUND: The City of Greensboro operates an onsite medical clinic to serve the specialized hiring needs of its public safety departments and to reduce worker's compensations costs through proper injury management. The clinic also conducts fit for duty assessments, DOT required substance abuse screening along with other occupational health surveillance. The contract physician oversees the medical staff at the on-site clinic and acts as the City's Medical Review Officer (MRO) for the Commercial Drivers License substance abuse program. The contract physician also treats worker's comp injuries at an off-site clinic when needed. The Medical Clinic Staff work under the supervision of the Contract Physician as required by statue.
The contract extension is consistent with the terms of the original three year contract, with options for two (2) 1 year extensions. The total cost of the contract for 4 years will total approximately $125,000.
This is the first 1-year extension taken under terms of the agreement. Staff anticipates bidding this service competitively in 2017-2018.
