PURPOSE:
The Police Department is responsible for City-wide Security Services and currently manages a single contract to meet security needs in various locations. Following a rebid for the services this contracts is expected to exceed $100,000 over the contract terms, which requires City Council approval.

BACKGROUND:
Due to the unanticipated termination of the current City-wide Security Services contract, the Police Department asked the Centralized Contracting Division to conduct an on-line competitive Request for Bids (RFB) for Security Services at various City locations through the Greensboro Electronic Procurement System (GePS) in Event #8147.

The various services needed were de-bundled to provide an opportunity for multiple vendors to bid on four separate contracts for these Security Services. The M/WBE Office provided a list of four potential M/WBE firms located in the Greensboro 10-county area. The Centralized Contracting Division sent an outreach email to these vendors inviting them to participate in the solicitation opportunity. A total of 324 contacts registered under the event commodity code were notified of the solicitation through the GePS system. Four firms submitted responses. Of the four firms, two were North Carolina State certified MBE firms.
