PURPOSE:

The Property Management Section of the Engineering & Inspection Department is in the

process of conveying a permanent drainage easement on City owned property located at 4431 Old Battleground Avenue parcel #0080320 to the N.C. Department of Transportation. City Council approval is requested for the conveyance of this easement.

 

BACKGROUND:

NCDOT is in the process of constructing the Greensboro Urban Loop Western portion near Battleground Avenue. The Western Loop is a six-lane freeway from U.S. 220 (Battleground Avenue) to Lawndale Drive in Northwest Greensboro. As part of this project, NCDOT will complete the U.S. 220 (Battleground Avenue) interchange. Right of way is currently being acquired with construction scheduled to begin in 2016.

 

The permanent drainage easement will consist of approximately 5,567 Sq.Ft. (0.127 acres). The property is zoned PUD (Planned Unit Development) and will be SCOD - 2 (Scenic Corridor Overlay District 2). The City’s Water Resources Department has reviewed the plan and approved the easement. NCDOT has determined the value to be $3,925.

                     

BUDGET IMPACT:

The proceeds of this conveyance will be deposited in the Water Resources Capital Reserve Fund, Account #502-0000-00.8616.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

The Property Management Section of the Engineering & Inspections Department recommends approval of this acquisition.
