PURPOSE:
In order to procure a state match for federal public transportation grant funds, the City of Greensboro must adopt a resolution certifying its technical and financial ability to accept these funds and manage administration of the grant.
BACKGROUND:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation-Public Transportation Division solicited requests for Urban State Match funding on March 14, 2016. The GDOT-Public Transportation Division has prepared a request for state match funding for two (2) current FTA grants. The buses to be procured under these grants are already on order and are due to be delivered in June 2016.
BUDGET IMPACT:
If approved, the state match funding would contribute 8% (for Federal FY14 grant funding with an 83/17 split) and 7% (for Federal FY15 grant funding with an 85/15 split), reducing the City’s share of the local match requirement for FTA Section 5307 funding. The total project funding is as follows:

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Transportation Department recommends and requests that the City Council approve the attached resolution certifying the City of Greensboro’s ability to enter into an agreement with NCDOT for FY2016 and 2017 matching grant funds.
