PURPOSE:

The purpose of this ordinance is to amend the FY 15-16 Equipment Services fund budget by $370,400 for the cost of a new dozer for the White Street landfill.

BACKGROUND:

The 1995 Dresser Crawler/ Dozer at the White Street landfill is used to manage part of the working area of the Construction & Demolition landfill at White Street. Its primary function is to maintain the tipping pad and building out slopes. The dozer is in need of replacement due to age, parts availability, and increasing maintenance cost. This dozer was originally purchased with landfill funds and was not part of the vehicle and equipment lease replacement program. Replacement was delayed due to the landfill closing to commercial garbage in 2007 and equipment being purchased for the new Transfer Station.

This new dozer will be added to the Equipment Services lease program for future replacement.

BUDGET IMPACT:

If approved, revenue in an amount of $370,400 from the Solid Waste fund will be appropriated to the Equipment Services fund for the cost of this equipment.  A budget ordinance and adjustment are required to complete this request.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

It is requested that City Council approve the budget ordinance amending the FY 2015-16 Equipment Services Fund budget in the amount of $370,400.

COMMITTEE ACTION:  This item was referred to Council by the General Government Committee.
