PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2015-67 (Stormwater System Improvements) have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to Yates Construction Co. Inc., for $711,441.15.
BACKGROUND:
This work consists of stormwater system upgrades of existing piping at four locations across the City of Greensboro. The bids were opened on February 23, 2016 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is Yates Construction Co. Inc. with a bid of $771,441.15.
The M/WBE utilization goal was MBE 6% and WBE 7%.
The contractor's commitment is MBE 6.2% and WBE 7.1%.

BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds for this construction contract are budgeted in Stormwater Capital Improvements Fund. Account 506-7015-01.6018 A16028 will be used. A budget adjustment is needed to use this account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is recommended by the Departments of Engineering & Inspections and Water Resources that City Council approve the bid and award Contract 2014-02 (Stormwater System Improvement) to Yates Construction Co., Inc. for the bid amount of $711,441.15, and the associated budget adjustment.
