PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2013-129 (Phillips Avenue Sidewalk Installation (U-5532 B)) have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to Yates Construction Company in the amount of $450,579.94.

BACKGROUND:
This work consists of all labor, equipment, and incidentals required for installing approximately 4770 LF of concrete sidewalks; along with ADA compliant concrete curb cuts, and driveways.

The bids were opened on January 28, 2016 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is Yates Construction Company (Stokesdale, NC) with a bid of $450,579.94.

The DBE utilization goal was 7%.
The contractor's commitment is DBE = 7.0%.

BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding in the amount of $350,000 for this project is available in grant account 401-4563-01.6015. The remaining $100,580 will be funded through 2008 bond funds, account 471-4502-15.6015.
