PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2010-026 (General Sidewalk Improvements - Florida Street & Randleman Road (EL-5101 DG) have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to Yates Construction Company in the amount of $1,404,548.83.

BACKGROUND:
This work consists of all labor, equipment, and incidentals required for installing approximately 14,360 linear feet (2.7 Miles) of concrete sidewalks; along with ADA compliant concrete curb cuts, driveways, retaining walls, and safety rails.

The bids were opened on August 19, 2015 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is Yates Construction Company (Stokesdale, NC) with a bid of $1,404,548.83.

The DBE utilization goal was 7%.
The contractor's commitment is DBE = 9.0%.

The proposed date for start of construction is October 19, 2015. The proposed date of completion is June 25, 2015.

BUDGET IMPACT:
This project will be funded from 401-4545-01.6015 A11089. A budget adjustment is required to move funding from the right of way (ROW) account into the construction account. As ROW is not a grant eligible expense, all of the ROW budget will be transferred to construction.
