PURPOSE:
The purpose of the amendment is to revise Chapter 6 (Buildings and Building Regulations) of the Code of Ordinance to remove the $75.00 dollar inspection fee for the installation of handicap ramps to houses.
BACKGROUND:
The inspections fee for certain types of construction are established in Section 6-64 of the Code of Ordinances.
The current inspection fee to install a handicap ramp to a house is $75.00 dollars.
At Council’s July 21st meeting, Matt Stafford asked Council to eliminate the fee for building handicap ramps to houses.
This amendment will eliminate the inspection fee for the installation of handicap ramps to houses.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The revenue loss per year would be less than $1,000 dollars.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
Staff recommends that City Council receive citizen comments and consider adoption of the proposed amendment.
