PURPOSE:
Update on the upcoming growth and opportunity at the Greensboro Science Center. The Science Center’s newest exhibit will include an Octopus Tank. The exhibit is being fabricated and installed by the stars of Animal Planet’s hit television show Tanked. The installation marks the beginning of a new expansion for the Carolina Sci-Quarium.
BACKGROUND:
Over the last five years the Greensboro Science Center has risen to one of the top tourist attractions in NC. Its continued expansion has created another tourism opportunity for Greensboro. The center is surrounded by what is now known as the Battleground Parks District which will eventually create more attractions and longer visits to the area.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Aquarium expansion $1 million in private funds.
