PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2011-062 (Mitchell WTP - Clearwell Replacement) have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to DH Griffin Construction in the amount of $5,604,000.
BACKGROUND:
This work consists of: constructing a new 1 million gallon (MG) prestressed concrete clearwell tank, yard piping and appurtenances, grading, road and stormwater improvements, finished water piping and valve improvements in the high service pump station, and associated electrical and instrumentation work. The bids were opened on July 22, 2015 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is DH Griffin Infrastructure LLC (Greensboro, NC) with a bid of $5,604,000. A deductive alternate #1 for $375,000 in the bid was not accepted.
The M/WBE utilization goal was MBE 2.0% and WBE 3.0%.
The contractor's commitment is MBE 3.5% and WBE 6.8%.
