PURPOSE:
To recognize the Guilford Cup Softball Team.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
City Council wishes to recognize the Guilford Cup softball team. The City of Greensboro team defeated Guilford County 19-11 in 9 innings at the Guilford Cup softball game on Saturday, June 20 at Gibson Park. The softball game was the final of three sporting matches in the Guilford Cup series. The City of Greensboro is the winner of the first-ever Guilford Cup. The Guilford Cup was created to increase fellowship and to build stronger working ties between the City and the County. There was also a philanthropic element as both organizations collected donations for selected nonprofits.
