PURPOSE:
The Property Management Section of the Engineering & Inspections Department is in the process of taking in designated drainageway and open space as described on an approved and recorded subdivision plat. Approval of the acceptance by City Council is requested.
BACKGROUND:
Some subdivision plats require that drainageway and open space areas be dedicated to the City and the public in order to meet planning guidelines. The City has the option of accepting these for ownership. The developer for this project is SHVF Olympic, LLC who has agreed to provide a deed a dedication for this land. The indicated drainageway and open space area on this plat will become City owned property. This was reviewed and accepted by the Parks & Recreation Department following discussions with both the Planning and Water Resources Departments.
The subject property is located at 2003-yy Yanceyville Street, parcel #0222657 (1.95 acres), and the subdivision plat is Plat book 140 Page 142. The property is zoned LI (Light Industrial).
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding in the amount of $26.00 for the Guilford County Register of Deeds recording fees is budgeted in the Parks & Recreation Department Account #101-5029-01.5288. Funding for the minimal maintenance of the open space and drainageway area is currently budgeted in the Field Operations Right-of-Way maintenance budget.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Property Management Section of the Engineering & Inspections Department recommends approval of the acceptance of this dedication by deed.
