PURPOSE:
The Property Management Section of the Engineering & Inspections Department is in the process of purchasing the property located at 2214 Jane Street (parcel #0037921) for the future maintenance and operations of the High Point Road Elevated Storage Tank and future improvements for Fire Station #10. City Council approval is requested for the purchase of this property.

BACKGROUND:
The Water Resources Department has requested the purchase of land for future maintenance and operations of the High Point Road Elevated Storage Tank as well as future improvements to the Fire Departments' Fire Station #10 located in front of the tank. Acquiring the property allows the Water Resources Department to obtain additional working space during maintenance and operations of the elevated storage tank. It also provides a training opportunity for the Fire Department through the demolition of the existing structure, relief parking for the overcrowded Fire Station and additional property that will be shared with Water Resources to support the Fire Department's proposed future Capital Improvement Program project that will replace the existing fire station located in front of the storage tank. Both departments will work closely together to ensure the respective needs of each are considered in developing and submitting any proposed site development plan.

The property is owned by Everett P. Walters. The property, including a single family residence, located at 2214 Jane Street was appraised by Tonya L. Brady of McNairy and Associates, LLC, with a value of $75,000. The owner has agreed to sell the property for the negotiated price of $57,500.
