PURPOSE:
City Council approval is requested for a Utility Reimbursement Agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to cover the cost associated with constructing the section of the Urban Loop at Joseph Bryan Boulevard and installing an on-ramp to Joseph Bryan Boulevard going west toward Inman Road. A new bridge for Inman Road will be installed and sections of a 12" water line that are in conflict with the new overpass will need to be relocated. In order for the State to perform these construction activities in their contract, they require City Council approval of a Utility Reimbursement Agreement.

BACKGROUND:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation has prepared and adopted plans to make certain street and highway construction improvements under project U-2524BC, for roadway improvements along Bryan Boulevard between the I-840 and SR 2410 (Inman Road). To provide water service in this area the 12" water main along Inman Road needs to be relocated for the construction of a new Bridge for Inman Road. These associated adjustments have been included in the construction contract at an estimated cost to the City of Greensboro of $63,160.35. The North Carolina Department of Transportation has prepared a Utility Reimbursement Agreement to cover this work for execution by both parties

BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds are budgeted in the Water and Sewer Capital Project account 503-7024-01.5615 in the amount of $63,160.35 for the relocation / adjustments of existing water lines.
