PURPOSE:
The funding allotment reimburses the City of Greensboro for overtime expenses incurred while working with the US Secret Service Financial Crimes Task Force to investigate financial crimes. A budget ordinance is requested from Greensboro City Council in accordance with current city fiscal procedures.
 
BACKGROUND:
The Greensboro Police Department has entered into an agreement with the US Secret Service for the Greater Greensboro Financial Crimes Task Force to investigate financial crimes in the City of Greensboro. The U.S. Secret Service has agreed to reimburse the City for the costs associated with this service to a maximum of $2,000 for the fiscal year 2014-15 and will be used for overtime and training expenses.
 
BUDGET IMPACT:
The US Secret Service has provided the maximum limits for reimbursements for FY 15 as $2,000. The funds will be housed in account 220-3508-04. Any expense above the allotment will be charged to the police general fund account.
 
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is requested that the City Council adopt the attached budget ordinance establishing funding in the amount of $2,000 for overtime expenses associated with the US Secret Service Financial Crimes Task Force FY 15.
