PURPOSE:
An extension is required to approve the multi-year agreement that was executed with Johnson Controls on July 2012.
BACKGROUND:
The contract with Johnson Controls indicated a three year term at $145,536 per year for three years July 2012 - June 2015. Although the City approved and signed the contract, it was later interpreted that the contract exceeded the $300,000 threshold due to the three year value of $436,608. We are currently in our third year of the contract and need to honor the original contract and pay the final invoice of $145,536 for the period of July 2014 - June 2015. Per the contract, this final invoice will be paid in four installments of $36,384.
Johnson Controls, Inc. provides basic services for facility operations, fire alarms systems and basic facility management. It includes provisions for the following: annual inspection of the existing Fire Alarm System and the Aquatic Center, 24/7 remote monitoring of the Fire Alarm Panel, and covers the material to upgrade the Fire Alarm Panel, as well as a $5,000 parts budget per year.
BUDGET IMPACT:
None. Since this multi-year contract was originally signed and approved by the City in 2012, it was included in the Coliseum's fiscal year 2015 operating budget; therefore, it does not have a negative impact.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is requested and recommended that City Council honor and approve the third year of the contract entered into with the Greensboro Coliseum Complex and Johnson Controls for the period of July 2014 - June 2015.
