PURPOSE:
Kimley-Horn, Inc., is being requested to provide additional engineering design services for the replacement of the water main along the Holts Chapel Road and Lowdermilk Street Roadway Improvements and Sidewalks project. City Council approval of a change order to the professional services contract with Kimley-Horn in the amount of $23,039.50 is requested.

A significant portion of the contract includes adding curb and gutter to support the construction of the sidewalk. On July 19, 2011, City Council approved a municipal agreement between the City of Greensboro and NCDOT for up to $440,000 for the design of this sidewalk with Federal STP-DA funds covering 80% ($352,000) of the design and 20% ($88,000) of the design being covered by the City of Greensboro's 2008 Transportation Bond funds.

During subsurface exploration and surveying research for their design of the roadway and sidewalk project, City engineers...
