PURPOSE:
The Property Management Section of the Engineering & Inspections Department is requesting City Council approval for the dedication of a trail easement to Guilford County. It will cover an existing portion of the County's Bicentennial Trail on two City parcels at 3609 and 3611 Drawbridge Parkway.

BACKGROUND:
Dedication of the easements will allow for the sale of the City property at 3611 Drawbridge Parkway. Approval for this sale is addressed in a separate request to City Council on April 15, 2014.

The Bicentennial Trail, which is a County trail, crosses two city parcels at 3609 Drawbridge Parkway (parcel #0096117) and 3611 Drawbridge Parkway (parcel # 0096104). That trail is on easements granted by the previous owner, Freedman Family Partnership, to Guilford County in 1995 and predates ownership of the properties by the City. As a condition on the agreement with a potential buyer for the 3611 Drawbridge Parkway land, the portion of the trail now located on that property must be relocated to the east to allow for the buyer's intended development. Easements for both the relocated portion of the trail and the existing portion on the 3609 address are the subject of this agenda item.

Additional information concerning the City's properties is included in the agenda memorandum for the property sale for 3611 Drawbridge Parkway.
