PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro has a long history of cooperating with various government and private sector agencies to address family violence. The mission of the Family Justice Center (FJC) located at 201 S. Greene Street is to empower family violence victims to live free from violence and abuse and hold offenders accountable by providing easily accessible, coordinated, and comprehensive services in a single location. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) sets forth the terms, under which Guilford County, the City of Greensboro, local non-profits, private sector resources and law enforcement agencies, collectively referred to as Partners, will provide services in support of the FJC partnership.
BACKGROUND:
The FJC is a new public safety community initiative launched as a collaborative approach to fighting family violence. The FJC will provide a central location for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child maltreatment and elder abuse to receive necessary services from many area non-profits, private sector resources and law enforcement agencies. The FJC model is considered the best approach to responding to domestic violence and abuse by the United States Department of Justice. Guilford County will provide in-kind contributions to all the Partners. In summary, the City will receive workspace in the FJC and dedicated staff and resources in other ways as determined by the County.
