PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro has received federal funds in the amount of $49,257 from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to support expenses eligible for the FTA 5307 Transit Enhancement Grant Assistance Program. A budget ordinance must be approved by City Council to allow the expenditure of funds.
BACKGROUND:
The GTA Board approved the replacement of bus stop signage for its bus amenities program at the January 22, 2013 meeting. At the March 5, 2013 meeting, City Council adopted a resolution authorizing the City to apply for and accept federal funds in the amount of $49,257 for this project. This grant will allow the City to replace the over 1,100 existing transit bus stop signs with new signage that meets the ADA standards and that are more user friendly for the riders.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The City has been awarded federal funds in the amount of $49,257. The City will be required to provide local matching funds in the amount of $12,315. These funds are budgeted in the Transit Operations Account 564-4531-01.6565. The total project funding is as follows:

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Transportation Department recommends and requests that City Council approve the attached budget ordinance in the amount of $61,572 to support eligible expenses.
