PURPOSE:
The Property Management Section of the Engineering & Inspections Department is in the process of accepting dedicated drainage-way and open-space as City property. The drainage-way and open-space parcel is described on an approved subdivision plat that has been reviewed and accepted by the Parks and Recreation Commission. City Council approval of acceptance of the properties is requested.

BACKGROUND:
Some subdivisions require that the owner dedicate areas as drainage-way and open-space in order to meet the development ordinances. The City has the option of accepting these and taking ownership after their dedication, and the Storm Water Division has requested that the City accept the dedication of this property to allow for future maintenance efforts.

The Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously approved a recommendation to City Council to accept the dedication at their June 2014 meeting. The indicated drainage-way and open-space area on this property platted in 2000 will become City-owned property. The City will be required to pay the $534.34 taxes for the 2013 tax year and any taxes for 2014 that are applicable after we acquire the land.

The developer and current owner is Regional Center Ventures Limited Partnership. The land will remain in its current natural state in the flood plain that includes a stream. The stream and its banks do not require regular maintenance, but they are maintained by the Field Operations Department on an as-needed basis.
