PURPOSE:

This resolution is to notify City Council that the NC Department of Transportation will provide for the improvements to existing sidewalks, enhance pedestrian signalization, and enhance pedestrian crosswalks for the Union Square Campus at South Elm Project

 

BACKGROUND:

Article 1 of Chapter 135 of North Carolina General Statutes requires the NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to inform all municipalities and/or counties affected by a planned transportation project that is in excess of $150,000. In accordance with the statute, this resolution is to notify the City that the NCDOT is proposing to participate in the following project within the City of Greensboro:

 

Provide for the improvements to the existing sidewalks, enhanced pedestrian signalization and enhanced pedestrian crosswalks for the Union Square Campus at South Elm Project

 

This project will greatly enhance pedestrian safety in this area.

 

BUDGET IMPACT:

This is an NCDOT project and will not impact the City of Greensboro budget.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

The Transportation Department recommends and requests approval of the attached resolution acknowledging that City Council is fully aware of this project.
