PURPOSE:

The Greensboro Police Department wishes to subscribe to LexisNexis Risk Solutions FL Inc. product Accurint Virtual Crime Center.  The subscription is $51,000 per year for two years and is presented to Greensboro City Council in accordance with current city fiscal procedures.

BACKGROUND:

The Greensboro Police Department has used LexisNexis data search products in the past with favorable results. The department now wishes to subscribe to their Accurint Virtual Crime Center.  The Accurint Virtual Crime Center will allow the department to search more data sources to help reduce crime and strengthen investigative capabilities. Furthermore, the subscription will assist the department with crime mapping and data analytics which assists in linking incidents and crimes to patterns across jurisdictions.

BUDGET IMPACT:

The two year subscription of $102,000 will be paid from the Greensboro Police Department’s general fund budget over the two years.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

It is requested that the City Council pass the resolution allowing the Greensboro Police Department to enter into a contract with LexisNexis Risk Solutions FL Inc. for a two year subscription to their Accurint Virtual Crime Center.
