PURPOSE:
Guilford Metro 911 leases an electronic CenturyLink phone system. A maintenance agreement is executed annually to provide for monthly maintenance services. The renewal agreement, for an amount not to exceed $210,852.17, requires City Council approval.
BACKGROUND:
The City leased the current Guilford Metro 911 phone system and equipment in 2012. The computerized phone system requires ongoing maintenance through monthly services. The maintenance has been contracted annually to the manufacturer's approved vendor for slightly less than the same cost as the prior year. The range of services provided includes Sentry monitoring, software protection and remote technical support.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding for these contracted maintenance services is available in the current annual budget 911 surcharge account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
City Council approval for the City Manager or his designee to enter into contract #2014-10227 with Century Telephone Company, NC/ DBA Centurylink for 2014-15 annual phone system maintenance services is requested.
