PURPOSE:
In order to commence construction phase services using the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) project delivery method for the Townsend Water Treatment Facility Basin and Gravity Filter Improvements Project, City Council approval of a change order with HDR Constructors, Inc., the Construction Manager, is requested. As part of the preconstruction phase services, HDR Constructors, Inc., developed a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the construction of the proposed improvements in the amount of $18,659,134.
BACKGROUND:
Contract 2011-066B with HDR Constructors in the amount of $393,396 was approved by City Council on November 3, 2014. The Townsend Water Treatment Facility Basin and Gravity Filter Improvements Project provides for filter and basin rehabilitation improvements at the Townsend Water Treatment Plant using the CMAR project delivery method. The construction project will focus on replacing the filter surface sweeps with an air scour system, repair the filter back wash troughs and replace the dual media in the nine treatment filters. Treatment filter operation automation improvements will be constructed as well and rehabilitation of the treatment plants three sedimentation basins will also be performed. Finally, a new building for lime slurry and PAC chemical systems will be built.
