PURPOSE:
The Wal-Mart Foundation has awarded the Greensboro Police Department a grant of $500 for the Police Neighborhood Resource Center's (PNRC) 1st Annual Youth Conference. Through the Local Giving Program, Wal-Mart stores, Sam's Clubs and Logistics facilities can support the needs of their communities by providing grants to local organizations. As part of the City's ongoing youth efforts, the police department's PNRC unit will host the 1st Annual Youth Leadership Conference June 24-26, 2014 at the Cultural Arts Center. The target audience for the program is Greensboro Housing Authority Communities' youth, ages twelve to fifteen. Twenty-five boys and girls, currently leaders in their respective community, were selected as program participants. Input from teachers, school counselors and GHA Resident Council President/members was sought to select participants.
The Conference will provide participants with beneficial life skills in the areas of communication, teamwork, personal identity, professionalism, project management/setting goals, leadership and conflict resolution.
