PURPOSE:

The City of Greensboro received a Duke Energy Foundation Grant in the amount of $25,000 for support of Greensboro Swift water Night Vision Glasses (Search and Rescue) Equipment.  A budget ordinance needs to be approved by the City Council to permit the expenditure of funds.

 

BACKGROUND:

The Duke Energy Foundation Grant has made grant funds available to local agencies to prepare for disasters. The Greensboro Fire Department received $25,000 and will provide for needed equipment in accordance with the Grant Application # 54268095 between the City of Greensboro Fire Department and the Duke Energy Foundation. The expenditure of these funds will enhance the response capabilities of the GFD and the SAR (Search and Rescue) Team through the purchase of specialized equipment that will benefit the businesses and citizens of Greensboro and North Carolina.

 

BUDGET IMPACT:

This item will not cost the City of Greensboro any additional funds.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached budget ordinance establishing funding in the amount of $25,000 for the support of the SAR Team for the period of September 4, 2019 to September 4, 2020
