PURPOSE:
A revised resolution is needed to execute the NC Governor's Highway Safety Program Agreement of Conditions. Council approved this resolution during the August 18, 2020 Council Meeting. A revised resolution demonstrating a local cash match in the amount of $14,971 is required.
BACKGROUND:
The Greensboro Department of Transportation applied for a Governor's Highway Safety Program funding grant to support implementation of the Vision Zero Greensboro Action Plan. The Governor's Highway Safety Program promotes traffic safety improvements through a variety of programs including grants to local governments, and has advanced the City's grant application to the final stage of review. Approved by City Council in May 2019, the Action Plan provides an interdepartmental framework of action intended to significantly reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries over time with a long-term goal of zero.
This grant will provide funding support for a new, limited-term engineer position and/or consultant services dedicated to implementation of the Vision Zero Greensboro Action Plan.
